2018-19 MSTA SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
The Mississippi State Troopers Association awards $15,000 in scholarships to member’s children each year. In addition to the scholarships every 2018 graduating high school senior of a MSTA member is awarded $250.00. The Association knows the importance of education and they want to help MSTA’s children achieve this goal.
The qualifications are challenging and the applicants are numerous. Each year applicants are required to write an essay. The 2018 Essay Topic:
MHSP Then & Now
Since its inception in 1938, the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol has grown and changed in many ways. In a typed essay of at least 400 but no more than 600 words, describe how MHSP’s responsibilities and resources have evolved. Research your topic by consulting sources and by interviewing at least one Trooper.
The topic was chosen to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol. MSTA asked the scholarship judges to choose a winning essay from the applicants. The winner will receive an IPad and will read their essay at the reception following the General Assembly of the 80th Anniversary. MSTA is pleased to announce that the essay winner is Ms. Bethany Richardson. Congratulations to our MSTA 2018-2019 scholarship winners!
