The Happy Highway Patrolman!Tonight, I got an email from someone who got a ticket up in Troop G. It appears from the email that this trooper was exceptionally nice while pulling the man over for apparently not wearing a seat belt. Here’s what the email said: “Just wanted to share these photos of one of the coolest troopers I’ve ever had the pleasure of being pulled over by. On August 6 in Columbus, Mississippi, on Highway 82, I was stopped by this trooper because it appeared as though I was not wearing a seatbelt when I passed him. (I’m sorry, did this guy say that he PASSED a trooper?) It was perfectly cool with me because I was so intrigued with the bike thing that I asked if I could take a few photos to show my sons. He kindly obliged, and I got some really wonderful shots out of the deal. It was really the best trooper stop of my driving life (Did you pick up that maybe this guy’s been stopped before by troopers?) Signed, Paul.” We’re proud to say that Trooper Tim Davidson practices the Trooper Motto of courtesy, service and safety! It speaks volumes if someone is getting a ticket, and the trooper exhibits such courtesy during the stop that the violator is more focused on that trooper’s demeanor than the pending ticket. We’re proud of you, Trooper Tim Davidson keep up the good work. You’re a great good-will-ambassador for the Highway Patrol!

Benefits of Mississippi State Troopers AssociationWhat can the Mississippi State Troopers Association (MSTA) do for YOU? We’ve got the answer, and it’s a long list of things. You know the saying, membership has its privileges… well here they are. Membership in the organization is formed by Mississippi Troopers for Mississippi Troopers. The $5 monthly dues are split up so that $3 goes to our general fund and $2 goes to our legal defense fund. Over 95% of Mississippi Troopers already belong to the MSTA. We give an average of nine, $1,000 educational scholarships each year. Read More . . .

License & Registration, please mam…If someone sees blue lights in their rear-view mirror, they know they’ve committed a traffic violation. When Tara Winter saw blue lights in her rear-view mirror - her heart began pounding, her pulse racing faster than she’d been driving, palms were sweaty, the excuses for speeding were pouring into her subconscious - and she promptly pulled over. Trooper Jason Terrell walked up, and said “license and registration, please mam.” Tara got a ticket that night, and she got something else, too. She got the name of a trooper who’d been to trooper school, ironically, with her brother, Matthew Winter. Weeks would pass before she worked up the nerve to call him. Just 12 months after that chance meeting with the blue lights, she got another license and registration. Trooper Terrell and Tara got a marriage “license” and “registered” at several department stores. Get it? They were married! Seven years later, they celebrated their anniversary at convention on June 30th. Trooper Terrell was asked what he planned for their anniversary.  His quick, SWAT-like accurate response was - “nothing, every day’s a special day with my bride.” You never know what will happen the next time you pull someone over - it might get you a different type of “license and registration.”

Congratulations, Jason and Tara.

Brian MobleyBeing 24/7 is not just a saying for him; it’s a way of life when it comes to being available to other troopers. Representatives from his area say he never gives up and is the epitome of dedication. Rumor has it that he bleeds Blue and Gray and wanted to be a trooper since childhood. Not only is he devoted to his job, he showed a lot of heart by helping a local child overcome dire obstacles.
