It would appear that on a recent hunting expedition, either M/Sgt Larry Conn or Miller scored a major nine point deer. Conn is quick to tell you that Miller was the one who successfully called out this deer with his “new found grunt calling skills.” As a result of all the hard work that Miller put into this effort, we’re only gonna give Conn an assist on this deer. Since Conn was once on the SWAT team, we think he may have been brushing up on his shooting skills. We’ll let our readers decide who should get the credit for this nine pointer. Conn or Miller? Voting begins now. The tally is in - over ONE MILLION readers give all the credit for this 9 point deer to Miller!
“No Pain, No Gain!” is a slogan that we’ve all heard. It usually refers to folks who exercise, and the thought is that you don’t get the full benefit of the exercise routine unless there’s a little pain. So, what does that have to do with one of our motorcycle troopers? If you look closely at his photograph, you’ll know that Trooper Tim Davidson takes that slogan LITERALLY! At a recent motorcycle competition, it would appear that Davidson not only won a great big, ginormous trophy, he did it with a little pain judging from the bruises, cuts and scrapes that cover both arms! But don’t worry, the “No Pain, No Gain” slogan appears to have worked for Trooper Davidson in the motorcycle competition, and his injuries have healed so we are told. Davidson didn’t just barely “scrape” by during the competition… he helped his team win even more honors. Congratulations Trooper Davidson and all the members of the Trooper Motorcycle Team for your recent victories!
Do you recognize the proud little papa in this picture? Are you kidding me - you really don’t know this German Shepard? Notice the badge on his collar? It’s our very own McGee, a Z-Badge Unit. He’s been retired for over a year now, but judging from the large number of absolutely adorable puppies he helped with in this litter… He certainly doesn’t look RETIRED to us! As his owner Trooper Thomas Cantrell from Troop G says, “It’s bad having to wait until you retire before you get a lady friend and have kids. LOL” This is McGee’s first litter of puppies, and as of May 26, these sweet little patrol puppies were about five weeks old. Maybe Cantrell can start a sideline business and have McGee help make more of these beautiful puppies, train them for duty, and sell these patrol babies back to the Mississippi Highway Patrol! Kinda funny - you work and work and work while you’re a Z-Badge on patrol, and finally get to retire and enjoy to calm and quiet life of retirement. Then one day - BAM! You’ve got seven precious little babies yelping around, biting everything in sight, wrestling with each other, crying at night when they can’t get in the bed with you, and of course there’s that whole “potty training” thing you gotta do. Well, I’ve already picked out the five that I want, you’ll have to go through Cantrell to claim the rest. Congratulations to you McGee on your new family additions. (Thanks for sharing these great, sweet, adorable, cuddly baby pictures!) We look forward to watching them grow and perhaps be on the highway patrol like Cantrell and McGee.
Tonight, I got an email from someone who got a ticket up in Troop G. It appears from the email that this trooper was exceptionally nice while pulling the man over for apparently not wearing a seat belt. Here’s what the email said: “Just wanted to share these photos of one of the coolest troopers I’ve ever had the pleasure of being pulled over by. On August 6 in Columbus, Mississippi, on Highway 82, I was stopped by this trooper because it appeared as though I was not wearing a seatbelt when I passed him. (I’m sorry, did this guy say that he PASSED a trooper?) It was perfectly cool with me because I was so intrigued with the bike thing that I asked if I could take a few photos to show my sons. He kindly obliged, and I got some really wonderful shots out of the deal. It was really the best trooper stop of my driving life (Did you pick up that maybe this guy’s been stopped before by troopers?) Signed, Paul.” We’re proud to say that Trooper Tim Davidson practices the Trooper Motto of courtesy, service and safety! It speaks volumes if someone is getting a ticket, and the trooper exhibits such courtesy during the stop that the violator is more focused on that trooper’s demeanor than the pending ticket. We’re proud of you, Trooper Tim Davidson keep up the good work. You’re a great good-will-ambassador for the Highway Patrol!
