10-8 REPORT

RETIRED TROOPERS ANNUAL MEETING

by Ivana Keeley Williams on 07.27.12

Phone calls were made, assignments were given, and the road trip began.  Many Troopers started their trip to the annual retiree’s meeting around 5:00 a.m.  The Troopers were granted the privilege of picking up a group of retirees to carry to Jackson.  The Troopers I spoke to stated that the stories are non stop, interesting, and down right hilarious. Press “flicker” and view the retirees arriving in Jackson.

Once the retirees finished their “field training” duties and arrived in Jackson the fun began.  They were reunited with partners, classmates, and long time friends.  Billie Hughes, President of the Retired Troopers Association, had quite an agenda for the meeting.  Governor Phil Bryant, Attorney General Jim Hood, Commissioner Santa Cruz, Colonel Berry, Lt. Colonel Holmes, PERS Senior Policy Advisor Robert Rhodes, and our very own MSTA President Jimmy Dale Thomas were the guest speakers.

Thank you Retirees!  Thank you for the experiences, leadership, and friendship!

George Harper was presented an award for the “Longest Retired Trooper”.

To Whom It may concern:

My wife and I always give at least $50 to your organization every year. Since we are nearing the end of 2013 (WOW!) – our question is can we send you the $50 contribution yet apply that to your early Spring of 2014 promotion. If so we would prefer to receive the new 2014 year decals. We don’t like to be a bother to anyone and cerntanly not your organization: however we do live on a fixed income as it is.

Please pass along our THANK YOU to all in your office and troopers on the road. It takes a good team to he the best and your organization has come a long way from 10 to 20 years back. We appreciate each and every single employee of M.S.T.A.

Thank you for your attention and service!
