At a recent retired troopers meeting down in Hattiesburg, they had a surprise birthday party for the oldest living trooper in Mississippi! That would be our friend, George Harper who turns 90 later this month on September 3rd. On behalf of all active and retired troopers and the Mississippi State Troopers Association board, we want to join in saying to “Mr. George,” we hope that you have a very very happy birthday and many more to come! Mr. George started with the patrol in 1950 and retired in 1976. There will be more to follow about Mr. George in the next issue of the Mississippi Trooper magazine. A special thanks to retiree Dewitt Napier for helping to pull off the ultimate surprise birthday party!
