At a recent press conference with troopers and other local law enforcement, the message was clear. If you drink and drive, you will go to jail. With the approaching Labor Day holiday, there will be more law officers patrolling the roads to make sure that drunk drivers get put behind bars in an effort to make the roads a safer place for motorists. One of the featured speakers was Meridian Police Chief Lee Shelbourne. He is the president of the MS Chiefs of Police Association and a RETIRED MISSISSIPPI TROOPER! His message was clear, “We want to see the number of drunk driving fatalities fall this year.” Shelbourne continued, “I want these local law enforcement officers and the troopers to be safe as they work these roads, and thank each of you for what you do every day.”
