The Benefits of Belonging to the MSTA!

What can the Mississippi State Troopers Association (MSTA) do for YOU? We’ve got the answer, and it’s a long list of things. You know the saying, membership has its privileges… well here they are. Membership in the organization is formed by Mississippi Troopers for Mississippi Troopers. The $5 monthly dues are split up so that $3 goes to our general fund and $2 goes to our legal defense fund. Over 95% of Mississippi Troopers already belong to the MSTA. We give an average of nine, $1,000 educational scholarships each year. There is a death benefit of $5,000 for members, and a $2,500 death benefit for spouses and dependent children. Whenever there’s a trooper in need, the MSTA provides much needed financial assistance, and you can find that form here on our web site. Professional counseling is available to members, spouses and dependent children with up to four free visits. There is a $500 bonus to members upon retirement, and a $250 bonus to each member’s child upon graduation from high school. Each member trooper will receive a free subscription to our trooper magazine of which we do two per year. There are MSTA member window decals of which you get the first three for free and then three per year after graduation for a minimal fee of $1 each. You’ll also receive a weekly daybook and stick-on calendars. Then, there’s the ever popular trooper convention where troopers and their families are invited to attend, relax, and catch up with fellow troopers from around the state. Other benefits include legal assistance, a Trooper-of-the-Year program, and our financial support for Muscular Dystrophy and other charitable activities. Finally, you have a very strong voice at the state capitol through our lobbying efforts on issues such as pay raises and other items that impact your job every day.
